    History of the Shriners:

Shriners International  was founded in New York in 1872. Established as a fraternal organization, in its early years, the group supported a variety of worthy causes devoted to the health and well-being of children. In 1920, the Shrine formally established the Shriners Hospitals for Children as the group’s official charity and the first Shriners Hospitals for Children opened in 1922 in Shreveport, LA. Now 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children in the U.S., Canada and Mexico provide the finest orthopedic, burn, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate care available for children without financial obligation to patients or their families.fez med staff_76white240small
